Safely Move Your Belongings in the Connecticut Area

You should not have to wonder if your belongings will make it to your new destination intact.  We want you to know that we will work with you to give your belongings the best possible chance of getting where you are going without a crack or a dent in any item.  You can help us achieve this goal by taking some steps prior to our involvement in your moving process.

Here is a sample of items that require some extra care to avoid damage and some suggestions about what you can do to keep them safe.

  • Dishes and glassware – Every individual item should be protected with bubble wrap or paper. Old newspapers, bubble wrap, or packing peanuts can be used to fill the empty space in these boxes, but if you want to minimize use of those products, you can also fill the empty space of your boxes with kitchen or vanity towels.
  • Art, mirrors, and frames – These items are obviously fragile, so it’s important to cover glass areas with paper and reinforcing vulnerable areas, such as corners, with cardboard. If you have the original boxes for such items, use them.  But if you don’t, protecting them with reusable material like cardboard can be just as effective.
  • Wine and fragile collections – If you have a wine collection, it means you are serious about your wine. Wine sellers usually sell moving kits for wine bottles, and these may be appealing to you.  If you prefer to pack your collection yourself, wrap each bottle individually and fill the spaces in the box in which they are moved.  The same is true for other collectibles that are fragile.
  • Stereo, A/V, and other electronics – Whenever possible, pack these items in their original boxes.  If you don’t have the original boxes and Styrofoam molds, improvise with similar size boxes and fill empty space with packing material that will reduce or eliminate movement inside the box.
