Things To Do This Summer In Glastonbury

Art festival

Summer is here, and it’s time to enjoy fun in the sun with Glastonbury area activities. Here are just a few fun events on the agenda for this summer. These summer events are sure to appeal to kids aged 8 to 80!

Music In The Park

Bring a chair and blanket to relax and enjoy evenings of live music by the Town Band at Riverfront Park. This family-friendly event will be held at 7 pm during select Sundays, July 12, 19, 26 and August 2. To open up the group and make this a true community event, the Town Band is always looking for new members. Any musician in grade 9 through adult is welcome to rehearse and play on Wednesdays from 7 pm until 9 pm on July 8, 15, 22 and 29.

Bedtime Stories

This unique and fun event is held this summer from June 22 until August 10 from 6:30 pm until 7 pm at the Welles-Turner Library Children’s Storyroom. Designed for children aged 2-6 and their families, Bedtime Stories is a great way to settle the kids down for bedtime. Put on the pj’s, bring your children and their teddy bears and enjoy a half hour of bedtime stories at the library.

Dinner For A Draft

This pasta dinner benefits the CT Draft Horse Rescue and is held on June 27th at the Haddam Neck Fairgrounds from 5 pm until 7 pm. The event features a pasta buffet dinner and an auction, raffles, desserts at the barn, horse-drawn carriage rides and so much more. This event is sure to be a fun time, so be sure to get your tickets soon. Tickets will run $15 for adults and $8 for kids under 12.

Summer Solstice Celebration & Bonfire

Come and welcome the longest day of the year with music, dance, stories, snacks, and a huge bonfire. Learn all about the traditions that were used to celebrate this longest day of the year as the sun shines over the Tropic of Cancer. All ages are welcome to this celebration that benefits the CT Audubon Society. Entry is $8 for CAS members and $4 for CAS children under 12, non members $12 and non member children under 12 $6.

Glastonbury’s 53rd On The Green

Enjoy the annual open air art gallery on September 12 and 13 from 10 am until 5 pm at beautiful Historic Hubbard Green. Original artwork of all types from watercolor to jewelry and sculpture can be seen at this artwalk. The select artists who participate in this event are considered to be top caliber for their artistry and travel from Maine to Florida to attend On The Green. This annual event attracts young and old alike and don’t be concerned that the kids won’t be interested, there will be plenty of activities for children to create their own artwork!
